Translation review: [AraAraUfufu~] Eureka Seven AO 01

Again a late competitor showed up to have a go at Eureka Seven AO.

He’s very right: the quality of this release is… questionable at best.

Not “negotiate”, but “meet up” (合流 gouryuu).

Yamato is Japan. The word has these nationalist overtones.

I’m completely as well.

Requests: find someone to check and edit your translation. Or just join some group. (Commie is recruiting.)

Cool lyrics translation there.

Conclusion: Avoid

The script quality is horrible. After the first few scenes the translation gets much steadier (some lines are suspiciously similar to the gg release), but the English doesn’t get any better. The timing is pretty bad too.

  1. Hey, this is “Mr. AraAraUfufu~”… I just saw this, and I know this release wasn’t the best… but cut me some slack; it was my first ever attempt at fansubbing anything and I’m working entirely on my own. I would appreciate it if you would be willing to give me a chance and review my release of episode 2 (and possibly the v2 of episode 1 I released along with it since I’ve tidied up the script, added karaoke, fixed a few mistakes, etc.) cause I’m confident my quality is improving rapidly as I get more of an idea what I’m doing, and I only expect it to keep getting better.

    • I may have a look at them if I have some extra time on my hands.
I’ve pointed out in the post that your translation in general isn’t bad, but it needs quite a bit of editing and a little more effort on your side for accuracy.
Joining a group would be a great idea. I remember that your submitter hash for episode one was the same as some EveTaku releases so I guess you’re somehow connected to them. Commie and WhyNot are also always recruiting.

      • I’m in no way connected to any other group so I’m not sure why my submitter hash would be the same as anyone else’s but whatever… to be completely honest I’m a total noob to the entire fansubbing process and I’m pretty much learning as I go which might go a ways towards explaining my somewhat bumpy start. Perhaps it would’ve been more sensible for me to join another group, but as I said I’m doing this for myself as much as anyone else, and I wanted to get a taste of the entire experience and prove to myself that I can do it… I’m planning to at least finish out this series as ‘AraAraUfufu~’ and we’ll see where I go from there.
Also it’s worth noting I was focussing on speed over quality at this point, but given that it’s impossible for me as one inexperienced dude to keep up with established groups with years of experience I’ve decided to shift my focus more onto quality, and you’ll be pleased to hear I’ve enlisted the help of a quality checker. Like I said, I’d be curious to get your opinion on one of my more recent releases if you get a chance cause I feel like I’ve come a long way in a relatively short about of time.

  2. I don’t actually, no… I tried once, but it said my torrent needed a http:// tracker, which it doesn’t have if you just create it with uTorrent like I am at the moment, and I don’t really know how to go about setting one up but I noticed someone else was submitting torrents to TT so I’ve just left it up to them really.

    • Oh right, that.

Well, just make a fake tracker that starts with http:// the first one and then make the real tracker the second one.
