Translation review: [Hadena] Onii-chan dakedo ai sae areba kankei nai yo ne! 01

So here’s another incest show with a ridiculously long title. (Actually I didn’t realize the Jiggymux was just a Hadena remux, and published that way. Fixed.)

Background dialog left untranslated. Not even the train’s announcer, which is quite easy to hear.

Wasn’t it obvious at the train? They just use different kanji to refer to real Tokyo places. See 目城 for 目白 (Mejiro) and 親宿 for 新宿 (Shinjuku).

10, not 20.

I know it’s the title and “you mustn’t translate titles”, but at this point it’d be nice to tell the viewers what it means.

Apparently he transferred to her school (I don’t really get it why she’s the one moving then though, but that’s what she says). I don’t know where the “go to school” part came from.

Add 100.

As far as I know, くすっ (kusu) stands for “sob”.

I don’t know where the “trained hard” part came from. She doesn’t say it.

I guess they couldn’t catch the second half of the sentence. She’s saying “wait until you’re fast asleep and then sneak into your room” (cut off).

There may be problems with the translation, but lines like this make the subs more enjoyable than the show itself.

“Embrace” would be a better choice here I think. 抱く (daku) does mean “hug”, but it can also mean “have sex”.

You mean sukiyaki.

Clerk or secretary or something. It’s the person who writes down what’s said at the meeting.

Quite a bit dodged here. She’s calling him nice stuff like “filthy” or “swinish”.

“How could I make you simpleton understand that?”

“Hoser”? Huh?

No ending translation.

Conclusion: Okay

A bottom-line okay, barely passable. There are quite a bunch of mistakes, but most of the dialog is comprehensible. Both the English and the translation’s quality are way above the level of usual Hadena releases. I’m actually quite impressed.

  1. It’s a remuxed version of Hadena’s subs with a few edits, which is probably where all of the errors come from. They supposedly fixed up some of the translation mistakes, so it’ll be interesting to compare the two side by side and see what exactly was changed.
