Translation review: [Hadena] Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo 01

Next up is Hadena’s Sakurasou.

“Since”? There’s no causality here. He blamed others for that nothing happens in his life. (Also: past tense.)

It’s not luck. Life’s just cruel to him. The same goes for the next sentence. (Not to mention it makes no sense the way it’s written.)

I won’t blame them for giving up on this pun. However, it’s not even “mabashi”, but mawashi (sumo loincloth).

He’s commenting on that the way she continues the sentence makes no sense at all. His next line is mistranslated as well.

A total guesslation. She’s going on about how arousing and youthful that would be.

I appreciate that they localized sensei.

Not necessarily the best translation ever, but I approve.

She’s third year on the art division (missing from the previous line). This line is already about that anime she drew and animated all by herself. Thus: another total guesslation.

Nope. She’s saying “carnal desires” (肉欲 nikuyoku), and the people are repeating her in shock.

Another total guesslation. He wrote the script for Misaki’s anime. He’s third year of the regular division.

All this after localizing kouhai and sensei. True, they didn’t translate senpai. Either way, I can safely complain about utter inconsistence in localization.

Not guard, supervisor.

29 years and 15 months.

I wanted to punch something at this point. “Term”?! What world are you living in? In this day and age how can people using the internet possibly not know that the topic of an email is called its “subject”?

First, you don’t use “knowledge” like that. Second, the last thing he says is “I’ve got nothing worth mentioning”.

Again a guesslation. Or, I just don’t know where this is coming from. Sure as hell it’s not said.

I think you wanted to write “exception”, but even that would be wrong. She’s talking about how he still hasn’t found anyone to adopt Hikari (a cat).

Mistimed line.

She says she shouldn’t do that, but they let her “this one time”.

I lost it at this point. Infantry?! Are you fucking serious?! (It’s supposed to be “regular division” or something like that.) I’m not watching this release any further. I’m at 8 minutes and there are already more mistakes than forgivable. If I weren’t busy with actually translating a show at this moment, I’d watch it for the fun, but alas, I am.

Conclusion: Avoid

A typical Hadena release, I must say. The number of mistakes is just horrifying. This is what you get for trying to translate a show that’s clearly way above your level.

  1. I want to kill myself know, I hadn’t watched our own release yet, but seeing this…. I can say I’m sure some of those errors mentioned by you were already fixed on my part…… for some reason… the edited script’s quite diffrent than the published script. Ah well…. what should I have expected…. my fault for not sticking around till after the QC. And in the regards of the timing…. I can’t be blamed for that, and…… I’m afraid I don’t speak Japanese, if I did I’d have checked some of those mistakes. In the end, it’s my fault…. so…. I’m truely sorry for this stupid sub.

    • Maybe you should stop working for a retarded group like Hadena since you seem pretty not retarded yourself.

    • Your edited script was godawful before It went anywhere near the timerQC.
Then again, someone could have reverted your editing before the timer got a hold of it, because the errors were plenty

      • Maybe that was because I was supposed to do more work on it, but was called off by our tl? (who happens to be my boss too)

          • I understand where your thought is coming from, but I’d rather have you not use that type of a language towards him. After all, you don’t know what type of IRL problems or troubles someone may have in their life. So I’d rather have you be a bit more considerate when addressing someone, especially when calling names.

Here’s a free supply of dots. Expires tomorrow, so use them wisely.
