Translation review: [Commie] Hataraku Maou-sama! 02

Overlord

(Too much blur.)

Overlord

I guess this goes too. (She literally says “I’ve got no reason to fear a powerless Overlord working part-time!”)

Wonder

Nice line.

RTFM

Is RTFM common enough to use it like this?

TS

Cool typesetting.

Steak

ステーキ (steak) – すてき (suteki, wonderful) joke lost.

Sell

I don’t know, I wouldn’t give up my limbs for mere 20 thousand yen. Especially with the raw NHK reference next line.

Pun

This’s a tough pun. Handled quite well.

Kansai

There flies a dialect joke.

Aha

Oh you. (☞゚∀゚)☞

Lyrics

Well handled.

Conclusion: Good

Accuracy: 9/10; Flow: 8/10; Atmosphere: 8/10

While some of the jokes weren’t handled all-so-great, there were hilariously hilarious lines too.

    • In Kanto (and Tokyo where they are) they call McDonald’s makku, while in Kansai they call it makudo. She calls it the latter and he asks her, “Are you from Kansai or what?”

      • Don’t think there’s any way to handle that; and even if there is such a way, most English speakers won’t get it anyway.

That being said, RTFM seemed appropriate in context. After all, a call center.
