So buttmad. Also honorifics don’t even seem to matter in this show. Thanks, Xythitler.

[Vivid] Stella Jogakuin Koutouka C3-bu - 04 [CCDB2636].mkv_snapshot_01.19_[2013.07.29_15.41.09]

Why typeset it if you’re not going to translate it? E-peen?

[Vivid] Stella Jogakuin Koutouka C3-bu - 04 [CCDB2636].mkv_snapshot_01.55_[2013.07.29_15.44.15]

-up

[Vivid] Stella Jogakuin Koutouka C3-bu - 04 [CCDB2636].mkv_snapshot_03.19_[2013.07.29_15.50.44]

Apparently what Karila calls her actually matters (Yurako vs. Li’l Yura) but I don’t really understand it so whatever.

[Vivid] Stella Jogakuin Koutouka C3-bu - 04 [CCDB2636].mkv_snapshot_03.29_[2013.07.29_15.51.51]

B-But… fun is banned. How can you have fun and win??

[Vivid] Stella Jogakuin Koutouka C3-bu - 04 [CCDB2636].mkv_snapshot_03.33_[2013.07.29_15.53.06]

I usually see people say “airsoft” when they mean the guns, not like how it’s used here. Maybe “enjoy playing airsoft”?

[Vivid] Stella Jogakuin Koutouka C3-bu - 04 [CCDB2636].mkv_snapshot_03.40_[2013.07.29_15.54.24]

Yeah, I don’t think this works. I’d go with “kind of airsoft” or “style of airsoft”. Because right now it could mean “You have you own airsoft gun, Yura.” Also, like the next 5 lines all reference this and it sounds very weird.

[Vivid] Stella Jogakuin Koutouka C3-bu - 04 [CCDB2636].mkv_snapshot_03.52_[2013.07.29_15.56.09]

Ughhhhhhhh, this just sounds so fucking weird.

[Vivid] Stella Jogakuin Koutouka C3-bu - 04 [CCDB2636].mkv_snapshot_03.59_[2013.07.29_15.56.58]

“But I’d still like to improve enough to really win.”

[Vivid] Stella Jogakuin Koutouka C3-bu - 04 [CCDB2636].mkv_snapshot_04.07_[2013.07.29_15.58.54]

L-Lewd.

[Vivid] Stella Jogakuin Koutouka C3-bu - 04 [CCDB2636].mkv_snapshot_04.36_[2013.07.29_16.00.57]

Now that is what I like to see.

[Vivid] Stella Jogakuin Koutouka C3-bu - 04 [CCDB2636].mkv_snapshot_04.41_[2013.07.29_16.01.43]

Also known as “unfolding.”

[Vivid] Stella Jogakuin Koutouka C3-bu - 04 [CCDB2636].mkv_snapshot_05.07_[2013.07.29_16.03.35]

Perfect use of italics for emphasis.

[Vivid] Stella Jogakuin Koutouka C3-bu - 04 [CCDB2636].mkv_snapshot_06.05_[2013.07.29_16.06.30]

[Vivid] Stella Jogakuin Koutouka C3-bu - 04 [CCDB2636].mkv_snapshot_06.07_[2013.07.29_16.06.44]

Where’s my TL note, man?

[Vivid] Stella Jogakuin Koutouka C3-bu - 04 [CCDB2636].mkv_snapshot_06.47_[2013.07.29_16.09.18]

[Vivid] Stella Jogakuin Koutouka C3-bu - 04 [CCDB2636].mkv_snapshot_07.33_[2013.07.29_16.10.56]

I like this translation very much.

[Vivid] Stella Jogakuin Koutouka C3-bu - 04 [CCDB2636].mkv_snapshot_07.46_[2013.07.29_16.13.55]

airgun->airsoft gun

[Vivid] Stella Jogakuin Koutouka C3-bu - 04 [CCDB2636].mkv_snapshot_09.50_[2013.07.29_16.19.10]

Even though she says “field” in English, I think I prefer “grounds” like what Commie had.

[Vivid] Stella Jogakuin Koutouka C3-bu - 04 [CCDB2636].mkv_snapshot_12.34_[2013.07.29_16.24.16]

“I think I’ll start…” etc.

[Vivid] Stella Jogakuin Koutouka C3-bu - 04 [CCDB2636].mkv_snapshot_14.15_[2013.07.29_16.27.48]

Yes, this is very good.

[Vivid] Stella Jogakuin Koutouka C3-bu - 04 [CCDB2636].mkv_snapshot_16.30_[2013.07.29_16.31.06]

My thoughts exactly. What the fuck is going on in this show?

[Vivid] Stella Jogakuin Koutouka C3-bu - 04 [CCDB2636].mkv_snapshot_19.44_[2013.07.29_16.37.08]

Way too long for the audio.

Typesetting

[Vivid] Stella Jogakuin Koutouka C3-bu - 04 [CCDB2636].mkv_snapshot_00.13_[2013.07.29_15.36.20]

Linebreaks like this make me cry. I also like this dialogue style the least out of the three.

[Vivid] Stella Jogakuin Koutouka C3-bu - 04 [CCDB2636].mkv_snapshot_01.19_[2013.07.29_15.41.09]

Have to say I like Commie’s font with the gaps in the letters more, but this is pretty good too.

[Vivid] Stella Jogakuin Koutouka C3-bu - 04 [CCDB2636].mkv_snapshot_01.25_[2013.07.29_15.42.50]

The styling is way too close to the edges.

[Vivid] Stella Jogakuin Koutouka C3-bu - 04 [CCDB2636].mkv_snapshot_02.39_[2013.07.29_15.48.10]

Here be some typHELLO DIALOGUE HERE

[Vivid] Stella Jogakuin Koutouka C3-bu - 04 [CCDB2636].mkv_snapshot_02.46_[2013.07.29_15.49.21]

Why so much blur?

[Vivid] Stella Jogakuin Koutouka C3-bu - 04 [CCDB2636].mkv_snapshot_07.38_[2013.07.29_16.11.41]

>not localizing yen to USD
>2013

But really, this is good.

[Vivid] Stella Jogakuin Koutouka C3-bu - 04 [CCDB2636].mkv_snapshot_17.18_[2013.07.29_16.32.44]

Hey, finally more typesetting. And there’s no problems.

[Vivid] Stella Jogakuin Koutouka C3-bu - 04 [CCDB2636].mkv_snapshot_23.41_[2013.07.29_16.42.30]

It looks a little too dark on the left side to me.

[Vivid] Stella Jogakuin Koutouka C3-bu - 04 [CCDB2636].mkv_snapshot_24.02_[2013.07.29_16.44.00]

Now that’s more like it.

Grades

Editing: 4.5/5. I don’t really like their terminology, but I have to admit the rest was very good.

Typesetting: B+. Would be an A, but there’s really not enough signs (at least for this episode).

Timing: No problems.

I guess this is the part where I say which release out of the three I like best. I think Commie and Vivid are very close. Commie has much better terminology, but I think Vivid handled the rest better. On the other hand, Commie has worse typesetting but I like their styling and lack of retarded linebreaks a lot more. Basically, just pick whichever is first if you don’t care, or which has or doesn’t have honorifics if that matters to you. Anime-Koi and HorribleSubs are both quite inferior, though.

  1. I love Commie, but I’m going with Vivid here just because they did such a great job with UTW on Gargantia. I love how a new group has grown so well (even if it’s full of vets) and gotten so appreciated in the community.

    • The people that work on this show are all from Commie. Anime-Koi’s translator is too.

      Basically, enjoy you’re Commie.

      • So is Anime-Koi’s translator crazy and translates the show twice differently?

Also I heard it’s mainly Commie, but what’s with honorifics then and it being so different from how Commie generally does stuff?

        • No, all three of the translators are in Commie though.

Also I have no idea what your second comment means.

          • Worded that weird. Commie generally leaves out honorifics, so why does Vivid leave them in?

          • Futsuu said he wanted to be lazy with this show.

            Didn’t work out so well.

          • Because we’re not Commie and have no particular policy on honorific use. For this show, the staff decided to leave them in.

      • Technically, only two out of the five people who work on this show (the translator and timer/typesetter) are also in Commie, and they’re in other groups besides that. We’ve got our own identity separate from whatever other groups our members happen to be in.

          • Translator: Futsuu
            Editor: Devana
            Timer/Typesetter: unanimated
            Encoder: Eien
            QC: thecowgoesmoo

  2. And thus, the machinations of the self-sustaining construct known as “fansubbing” go on~

  3. The terminology differences really trumped anything else for me. Ow well, I am not missing much besides unanimated being unanimated.

    @Xythar
staff rolls are good. would love to hear the ones for the rest of your current shows too.

  4. >I usually see people say “airsoft” when they mean the guns, not like how it’s used here. Maybe “enjoy playing airsoft”?
I’m going to disagree with you here. I think using “airsoft” to refer both to the guns and the sport as a whole works perfectly fine. Like how one uses “football” to refer to both the actual ball and the sport as a whole.
    >There are plenty of ways to enjoy football.
