Script Review: [SFW] Ozma – 01 This entry was posted by brainchild.
This show sucks. I don’t even know why I’m reviewing the subs.
r/a/ge level: 40/100. Honorifics are translated, but the overall translation was done by a fan translator, so that earns some extra brownie points with /a/.

The more common way of saying this is, “A man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do.” With the “he’s” there, the phrase sounds awkward.
“We have to get that treated.” It looks like SFW accidentally’d a word there.
Not an error, but my personal preference is to consider “Come on” an independent clause, especially when the next clause is offset by a name or something. Still, I wouldn’t consider this wrong.
The guy is asking about a single ship when he can clearly see three in the distance. So, “Why are military ships coming here?” I prefer, “What’s the military doing here?” It sounds more natural, like something someone would say.
Heh… Weeaboo-ism. CR had “I don’t know what to tell you,” which was fine. “What do you want me to say?” could also work.
Generic J-to-E translation #477. “Are you sure about this?” sounds a lot better.
“LS boundary” was capitalized earlier. I don’t care if it’s capitalized or not, but it should at least be consistent.
“All right.”
What I liked:
I have to give props to the translator and/or editor. A lot of the characters had new life breathed into them compared to the prosubs release. The way the main character talks in SFW’s release makes me feel like I know the character a little better, as if he could actually be a real person, and it doesn’t feel like it was forced or scriptwriting on the part of the editor. For example, he calls the head chef “Pops,” which just fits.
Save for the few weeaboo-isms, the characters and their reactions to the dialogue seemed genuine. This is something all pro- and fansubs should strive for. I still hate the show, but if you want to watch Ozma, savior of anime, I’d have to recommend SFW’s release for the moment.
What I didn’t like:
Weeaboo-isms. Either the editor didn’t catch them, or he thought they were okay. They sound awkward and should be changed. There were also several minor errors throughout the script, but nothing Hadena level at least.
Overall Grade: 4 shitty episodes… out of 5. (The show’s actually 6 episodes, but whatever.)
