Translation Review: [Watakushi] Rail Wars! – 01

Watakushi saving the day by subbing shows that are delayed on CR.

trein

Let’s see how they did.

[Watakushi] Rail Wars! - 01 [720p][0CE6CD6B].mkv_snapshot_00.03_[2014.07.04_13.09.39]

Tokyo, Tokyo, eh? That’s a new one.

And by one I mean one is enough.

[Watakushi] Rail Wars! - 01 [720p][0CE6CD6B].mkv_snapshot_00.04_[2014.07.04_13.09.47]

Google is your friend. And the less said about the rest of the translation and the typesetting, the better.

[Watakushi] Rail Wars! - 01 [720p][0CE6CD6B].mkv_snapshot_00.06_[2014.07.04_13.15.31]

No really, Google is your friend.

I mean it.

[Watakushi] Rail Wars! - 01 [720p][0CE6CD6B].mkv_snapshot_00.22_[2014.07.04_13.29.20]

[Watakushi] Rail Wars! - 01 [720p][0CE6CD6B].mkv_snapshot_00.24_[2014.07.04_13.29.26]

[Watakushi] Rail Wars! - 01 [720p][0CE6CD6B].mkv_snapshot_00.27_[2014.07.04_13.29.35]

He’s saying the company’s entire network (not one line) stretches {not connects} all the way from Wakkanai to Nishi-Ooyama and that its coverage (not length) exceeds 25,000 kilometers.

[Watakushi] Rail Wars! - 01 [720p][0CE6CD6B].mkv_snapshot_00.31_[2014.07.04_13.29.53]

[Watakushi] Rail Wars! - 01 [720p][0CE6CD6B].mkv_snapshot_00.34_[2014.07.04_13.30.15]

Redundant, superfluous, and unnecessary.

And of course, it doesn’t get the most important part of the line across, i.e. it was only made possible by the enterprise having the unconditional financial backing of the government.

This also leads into the next line:

[Watakushi] Rail Wars! - 01 [720p][0CE6CD6B].mkv_snapshot_00.42_[2014.07.04_13.31.28]

Long-term job security (due to the company’s financial stability), not a life in tranquility.

[Watakushi] Rail Wars! - 01 [720p][0CE6CD6B].mkv_snapshot_00.50_[2014.07.04_13.32.12]

I’m certainly in quite a bit of campain right now.

[Watakushi] Rail Wars! - 01 [720p][0CE6CD6B].mkv_snapshot_01.29_[2014.07.04_13.33.03]

How the hell did 参加者 (participant) turn into freshman? And it’s a program, not a goddamn institute.

This is usually the part where I’d start telling people to avoid the release. You know what’s sad?

I’m not even ninety seconds in.

You know what’s even worse?

This show comes with captions.

I think I’ve seen enough.

Conclusion: It’s a trainwreck

Accuracy: 2/10, Flow: 2/10, Atmosphere: 2/10

This show would’ve been so much better had it been intended as a joke. Funnily enough, the same goes for this release.

But it’s okay. Nobody’s gonna download this crap anyway, right?

  1. Torrent stats don’t mean anything. I’ve heard from many people who leech anything and everything just for the sake of saying they have a huge anime collection. But they don’t actually watch more than 10% of it.

  2. rail wars! is an absolute trainwreck, i agree with that. it’s just pointless fanservice after fanservice after fanservice after fanservice and oh yeah MORE FUCKING FANSERVICE. this anime is so fucking dumb people who watch it only watch it for the plot.
