Script Review: Commie@Gay (Commie’s Sasami-san@Ganbaranai, Episode 2)

Vale pls no.

SHAAAAAAAFT

Me while watching this show.

f/a/ggotry: 1/5 – Little to no faggotry. No honorifics, English translation for the opening only.

This is quite possibly the best premise for a show ever. (I’m actually being sarcastic. It’s really not a good premise at all.)

[Commie] Sasami@Ganbaranai - 02 [9EC316D1].mkv_snapshot_00.49_[2013.02.02_21.04.24]

Bitch, please. My god is totally better than your god. Amaterasu came from Izanagi’s eye. Thus, Izanagi > Amaterasu, QED. Not to mention, his stats are totally overpowered.

[Commie] Sasami@Ganbaranai - 02 [9EC316D1].mkv_snapshot_01.19_[2013.02.02_21.05.19]

“My brother is basically the supreme god of everything now,” or some such.

Looking at it now, the original isn’t that bad, but it’s like saying her brother and the supreme god are equals versus saying he is the god now.

[Commie] Sasami@Ganbaranai - 02 [9EC316D1].mkv_snapshot_01.25_[2013.02.02_21.05.40] [Commie] Sasami@Ganbaranai - 02 [9EC316D1].mkv_snapshot_01.27_[2013.02.02_21.05.46]

Not sure why “the” is capitalized, even if she is reading it how she’s typing it.

[Commie] Sasami@Ganbaranai - 02 [9EC316D1].mkv_snapshot_04.10_[2013.02.02_21.24.18]

“Quiet down. You’re being too loud.”

Reversing the two clauses makes her line sound much more natural.

[Commie] Sasami@Ganbaranai - 02 [9EC316D1].mkv_snapshot_04.14_[2013.02.02_21.27.23] [Commie] Sasami@Ganbaranai - 02 [9EC316D1].mkv_snapshot_04.18_[2013.02.02_21.27.16][Commie] Sasami@Ganbaranai - 02 [9EC316D1].mkv_snapshot_04.19_[2013.02.02_21.27.31]

“With your embarrassingly childish attitude,

I can’t be seen in public with you

as either your student or your sister.”

The middle line is the problematic one. It really doesn’t sound natural. It took me a while to understand that she’s saying she’d be embarrassed if other people saw them together in public, whether it be student-teacher or sister-sister.

[Commie] Sasami@Ganbaranai - 02 [9EC316D1].mkv_snapshot_06.12_[2013.02.02_21.46.51]

Fuck you, Chiwa Saitou. I’ll never like any character you voice. Not even if you nishishi~ a thousand more times.

[Commie] Sasami@Ganbaranai - 02 [9EC316D1].mkv_snapshot_06.44_[2013.02.02_21.47.53]

Oh man, that dramatic irony! SHAFT is so good!

[Commie] Sasami@Ganbaranai - 02 [9EC316D1].mkv_snapshot_07.04_[2013.02.02_21.48.34]

As expected of SHAFT, you’re going to get a lot of terrible dialogue. Maybe once in a while you’ll get a decent one like this. “Eight-Sporked” instead of “Eight-Forked” is pretty funny.

[Commie] Sasami@Ganbaranai - 02 [9EC316D1].mkv_snapshot_07.56_[2013.02.02_21.50.13]

Someone somewhere is having an aneurysm over this improper capitalization. Me? I don’t care.

[Commie] Sasami@Ganbaranai - 02 [9EC316D1].mkv_snapshot_09.21_[2013.02.02_21.52.38] [Commie] Sasami@Ganbaranai - 02 [9EC316D1].mkv_snapshot_09.23_[2013.02.02_21.52.43]

I know Sasami was pretending to be a normalfag earlier, but she’s obviously dropping the act right now to gloat over her victory. Thus, she should know that in a persistent online MMO, you don’t need to save. I primarily blame this failure on SHAFT for having terrible writers. If you’re gonna do shit like this, hire a subject matter expert.

[Commie] Sasami@Ganbaranai - 02 [9EC316D1].mkv_snapshot_10.10_[2013.02.02_21.53.47] [Commie] Sasami@Ganbaranai - 02 [9EC316D1].mkv_snapshot_10.12_[2013.02.02_21.53.52]

Another decent scene. Thank you based Commie for these wonderful lines. On the other hand, you readers should be thanking me, since I’m pointing out all these great scenes among all the shit so that you don’t have to. Simply donate to Commie with a note saying, “Thank you, NRR!” and RHE will pass it on. 200 USD a month is a little difficult to split 30 ways, so let’s bump it up 210 or 280. You know, something evenly divisible by 30.

[Commie] Sasami@Ganbaranai - 02 [9EC316D1].mkv_snapshot_11.05_[2013.02.02_21.54.55]

Not many people shorten “internet” to “net” where I live. It’s more of an Asian thing to shorten it that way. I’d rather just write out “internet” everything time.

Fuckin’ lol. This scene is hilarious. It’s too bad all pure comedy anime are shit and have at most 3 decent scenes. This would be Sasami’s third scene.

[Commie] Sasami@Ganbaranai - 02 [9EC316D1].mkv_snapshot_12.29_[2013.02.02_21.59.26]

Manga’s in the dictionary, but I still generally translate it. There’s nothing quite like pissing off a few hundred /a/nons or literalfags. It’s why I fansub!

[Commie] Sasami@Ganbaranai - 02 [9EC316D1].mkv_snapshot_14.21_[2013.02.02_22.04.44]

“The infirmary’s bed is the obvious choice for a porn scene!”

This has something to do with getting Heart Points. I don’t remember anymore. The original’s not that bad, especially with the fast pace of this scene.

[Commie] Sasami@Ganbaranai - 02 [9EC316D1].mkv_snapshot_15.21_[2013.02.02_22.06.06]

I’m sure you could’ve fit in “faggot” somewhere. You just weren’t trying hard enough.

Also, if you couldn’t tell by now, like 90% of the episode takes place in this dark room from this camera angle. I recall someone telling me SHAFT had a budget for this show? I’m not sure about that. Or maybe they’re using that budget for other stuff. I couldn’t tell ya.

[Commie] Sasami@Ganbaranai - 02 [9EC316D1].mkv_snapshot_23.46_[2013.02.02_22.51.28]

lel. Okay, maybe there was one more decent line left in Sasami.

 TL;DR? It’s good.

Short of being the world’s biggest chunibyo-faggot (yes, that’s a little redundant), there’s not a lot to hate in this release. I had a few minor complaints, but watching through the show normally, the average viewer won’t care, and he or she will be able to understand everything. Context helps.

Still, Commie did do something a little differently that set it apart from gg’s first episode release. The best part of Commie’s release was that the characters were properly differentiating by the subs. Chiwa Saitou’s old-loli character is really casual, whereas HanaKana is super serious and rarely uses contractions in her dialogue. This is compared to gg’s release where I didn’t even release the characters spoke different. So, props to Commie for that.

  1. For the save on MMO part I got out of it was she knows that you don’t have to save in an MMO, she just wants to make the others think they lost everything and might as well give up and go do something else.
